As you may be aware the future of live music at The
Point, Oxford, is in some jeopardy. The leaseholders of the building have plans to develop the site and
have applied to Oxford city council for a night club license.
This would spell the end of live music at The Point. So far the
council has had about 17 or 18 letters of objection from local
residents who were sent a letter regarding the application. This is
quite a lot according to "official sources". Part of
the requirement to obtain a change of license is that you display your
intentions in a letter in the window of the premises for 28 days prior to
any hearing, so anyone objecting can write in and attend the
sitting. This was not done, so if you dont know who to complain
to you cant cause a fuss...right ?...WRONG. The initial hearing is this Monday 2 October 2000 at the town

It's a chance to hear our songs stripped down. Good songs are determined
by the lyrics and the melody. Playing acoustically brings both of
these to the forefront. Hopefully
people will realise there is more depth to our songs, just because they
are melodic and quite bouncy doesn't mean they can be dismissed as plastic
pop pap!" JODA

V2000 is approaching fast. The
venue is Weston Park in Staffordshire. The dates are
19-20 August.
Check out Knowhere,
lots of good information there. Look at this review of the Jazz
Club..."There is a new Independent bar in town Imaginatively called
the Jazz club where the environment is authentic Ancient Arches where once
elephants where stabled by a visiting circus. It is definitely the best
place to take a girl to impress her, with an incredible Restaurant serving
a full A La Carte menu not cheap though approx £25 each for a 3 course.
The music is refreshingly live and an education to anyone who thinks Jazz
is for their dads. Funk abounds and it is truly friendly."
